Hi everyone,

I thought that I would say hello and introduce myself. My name is Kaye and I have been stitching off and on for many years but have just got back into it in a big way this year and also into blogging in a big way. My blog is http://kittenstitching.blogspot.com

I would like to thank Vonna for allowing me to join this blog. I have only fairly recently discovered Little House Needleworks and I just love their designs, especially their Christmas Ornaments. LHN "Red" House in Winter

I loved the original colors for this design with the red house but since my Christmas decorating is done in shades of blue I wanted this to match. I stitched this on the recommended 30 count Northern Cross linen. I used all the recommended DMC colors except changed the red to CC Wavy Navy and the white (except for the snow) to GAST Old Blue Paint.

I stitched up Winter Sheep and used Diane's recommendation on the pattern to switch the reds to blue. I love how it turned out and it will match my Christmas colors of shades of blue.

I just finished this last night.

I changed out the colors to match the fabric I will use to back it a little better. For the border, I used something from a GAST loose threads pack (I think it's Cornflower) and the bunnies are CC Bunny Honey, to match our bunnies' winter coats. I changed the cardinal's color to 498 to match the cooler palette a little better. It's stitched on Charles Craft's sparkly aida.

I'm a little behind on the ornaments. I think I have 2 more to go for the 2010 series.

Here's my version of Joy to the World. I didn't have a star button so I opted to stitch the star. Instead of French knots for the eyes and mouth, I used seed beads.

Otherwise, it's stitched on the recommended fabric with the recommended floss.

Here it is. My first 2011 ornament finish. I stitched this ornament on 28 count coffee dyes linen and used Crescent colors and DMC thread. This was a fun and quick stitch. Can't wait for the rest.

Hi all...my name is Karyn, I reside in Southern Connecticut with my hubby of 26 years, and our two sons, ages 21 and 18. My oldest son is a computer science graduate student, and my younger son is a university freshman. I have been stitching since I was 6 and have only recently re-discovered my love for cross stitch after a three month recovery from foot surgery in 2008. My favorite designers are LHN, Blackbird Designs, With My Needle, and Blue Ribbon Designs. I am a floss junkie and adore anything sampler.
I discovered and started stitching the LHN ornies last year (2010)and stitched a set for myself and one set for my oldest son and his fiance to give them for their home when they get married in 2012.
I just signed myself up for another round of ornament autos for 2011! I can't wait to get my first one and begin stitching! I plan to also stitch a set for myself and one for them from this year's ornies.
Here's to another year of fun!

We've had some members leave us and some new ones arrive, so maybe take a few moments to share some things about you.

I'll start us off:

My name is Vonna and I reside in Bloomington, Indiana home of the Hurryin' Hoosiers at Indiana University. I have four children ages 13- 5 years. I work outside the home as a Microbiologist on the weekends only - as I stay pretty busy dawn to dusk every other day with my family. I have a wonderful husband, Keith, who works as an Electrical Engineer.
I love to cross stitch, it is my addiction and my most favorite designers are Little House Needleworks, Country Cottage Needleworks, Prairie Schooler, Blackbird Designs, Carriage House, Plum Street Samplers...yadda, yadda...I could go on and on with that vein. I love to listen to books on my MP3 player, stitch and walk (which I'm trying to convince myself that I like, but I really don't I just do it for exercise) 3 miles per day (6-7 days per week).

I have most of the Little House Ornaments from 2010 stitched for myself and they hung on our tree this year. I'm looking forward to the 2011 ornament line from Diane, and I have a leg up on you all because I've stitched the first 6 already, as I am the stitcher and finisher for all the 2011 ornaments :) But sadly Diane gets to keep those and I have to restitch them for myself.....

Frosty Flakes finished as a cushion/pillow. My first attempt without my mum standing by to help lol. I stitched this on 28ct Summer Khaki linen using DMC threads and backed with the green checked fabric in the background. Luckily you can't see the wiggly sewing machine line at the top lol. I discovered I am not very good at using a sewing machine in a straight line.

Here she is "Joy to the World" all stitched and finished. I stitch this ornament on 32 count abcerderian blend with DMC thread.
I am happy to say that I have finished all 12 of the monthly ornaments.

Here are all twelve. And I guess it is appropriate that the last ornament is Joy to the World because that is how I feel. I am so happy to have finished my ornaments for Christmas this year. Now who's on for next year:)

Well, at least I'll have one finished ornament on the tree this year! I have finally taken my stitched Pear Tree and made it into an ornament. It's the first finish of this type for me, and so I now know every mistake that can be made--because I made them on this one. But no matter, I'm sure it will look lovely on my tree this year!

I have finally got round to finishing finishing my ornaments. I used Vonna's tutorial, The Twisted Stitcher, and this is how they turned out. Thank you Vonna your tutorial was very easy to follow which it needed to be for me lol. I decided not to use two pieces of felt as I thought they would turn out a bit big. I am really pleased with how they turned out and will use this method again in the future. I am really behind now with the others but hope to catch up shortly.

Here is my finished “Red House in Winter”, I loved stitching this design, I think it is my favourite so far. I backed it with red “christmassy” fabric and finished it with ribbon hanger fixed by buttons. For the house I used DMC variegated thread.

It seems like every time I stitch one of these, I'm thinking it's my favorite. Diane's doing a fantastic job designing these.

I put the final stitches and button on this last night.

I attempted using beads for the eyes but the beads I have looked too big for the little guy so I did the French knots. Once I've done them, they're not as scary as them seem before I attempt them. lol!

I neglected to post a picture of my last ornie finish which has been done for a few weeks now. I didn't think I'd like this one but found it was a fun stitch and I love it. Finishing, well now anyone who knows me knows that it will be awhile before that happens! I've fallen behind now and have two more waiting for me but that's because I was working on this LHN finish.

My Home of a Needleworker (Too) is home again! I'm thrilled with how this turned out. Now I can concentrate on getting back on track with the ornaments.

Here's my Winter Sheep ornament finished up over the weekend. This one stitched up quite quickly, i think the finishing of it into an ornament took me longer!

Stitched with the recommended DMC threads (except for the lettering which i substituted) on a piece of 28 count even weave. I'm still waiting for my LNS to get supplies of the next in the series but I'm told it may be another weeks or so.

I used the suggested fabric. The only changes I made were the beads. I didn't have any 2012 handy so I used 2016. I also use a black bead for the bear's nose. Me and french knots don't always go together.

I just finished stitching Snowy Pines last night. This one was a joy to stitch and went very quickly for some reason....maybe because it was my parking lot project and I spent a bit of time waiting for DS in the parking lot. lol!

Recommended DMC - Mystery Piece of Linen

I finished this one on Saturday, i'm a bit behind because my LNS does not have the charts in until a few weeks after they are released in the US. This one is a little smaller than the others, i must have used a smaller count fabric, i think i prefer them a little bigger.

As always It's great to see everyones' finishes :-)

I'm a little behind but slowly catching up. Here's my version of He's a Flake.

I used the recommended floss and stitched on 28 ct. linen over 2 by Wichelt. I think the color name is Waterlily. (It's been in my stash for quite a while.)

Pretty sweet aren't they?! 6 done and 6 to be released! Aren't we going to have pretty trees this year?

All of these were stitched on 40 ct. linen using the recommended threads stitching using one strand over two. I did use the recommended JABCO buttons for the Winter Sheep ornament and I'm glad I did because that one turned out DARLING!

Has anyone received this pattern yet? Seems like it is a beautiful addition to our trees!
I'm nearly done with my version....in fact I stitched the last three ornaments this weekend: Snowy Pines, Winter Sheep and I'm nearly finished with Red House in Winter today! YAY!

Soon, I'll have them finished in ornament form and I'll show you all how they look ;o)
