waiting for the postman

I saw the LHN ornaments for the first time today and fell in love with them - hopefully the postman will bring the first one quickly! Thanks for letting me join in with the SAL. I'm looking forward to having a very pretty Christmas tree next year.

woohoo..........

My first ornament arrived today!!! I plan on beginning it on December 1 - hopefully I can begin them all on the first of the month and give myself all month to work on them. We'll see how it goes. I didn't do a "warm-up" ornie, just wanted to wait til FaLaLa came in the mail to begin.
thanks Vonna for setting this up and thanks Amy for SUPER fast service.

great mail & a finished ornie

What a great mail day! The first of the LHN ornies arrived at my house. Thanks so much to Amy at DSL for the super fast service. I'm hoping to work on it this weekend.

And here is an ornie I finished in the meantime. I stitched "Winter Greens" over one for an ornie exchange. My partner is not a member of this blog so I think it is ok to share!

It's kind of hard to see the lighter shades. I used GAST threads in Brandy, Cucumber, Cinders and Lexington Green, Crescent Colours in Lunar Eclipse, and Carrie's Caribou Hyde on 25ct. antique white evenweave, with small gold beads. I hope she'll like it!

my "Whet your appetite" ornie

This is the ornament I stitched to "Whet my appetite"!

It is "Winter's Eve" by Country Cottage Needleworks, from JCS Ornament Issue 2006. This will be sent away for an exchange, but I started one for me too!
I used the recommended DMC threads.
Can't wait to have the Fa-La-La chart!
Have nice week,

Get your motors running...

I believe there are lots of ornament patterns in packages heading to mailboxes all over! So do we have our motors running?

Get ready. Get set. GO!

Who will be the first done?

slowly making progress

Here's my November 'warm up' ornament, which is also going to be my December ornament for 2 reasons: First, because I'm not going to get it finished in November (duh!) and second, because I'm having my husband give me the LHN ornament series as a Christmas present. I won't have 'Fa La La' in my hands until December 25 (but I hope that 'Pear Tree' will arrive in time to make it into the package).

This is the 2009 design that Diane gave to Unicef. I'm stitching it on 35 count linen which I have dyed myself with coffee, using the recommended DMC floss (2 over 2). My goal is to have this one finished by Christmas Eve, so that I can start stitching 'Fa La La' on Christmas night.

I hope everyone has a very happy Thanksgiving. I'll post again when I have this one all finished up.

"Whet Your Appetite" Finish

Here is my first finish ... I decided to do LHN's "Glory to God" from the 2008 issue. I used the DMC recommended and alternates. As for the fabric ... it is an unknown color and count from my stash that was dark enough for the lighter colors to show up. I've received my invoice for the first ornament of the series so hopefully Fa-La-La is on it's way and will show up this week in the mail box :). I plan on finishing this one as a pillow ornament (so I need to see if I have a good backing fabric in my stash or need to go pick one up).

Let it Snow finished

I'm going to do these ornaments over one - a new method for me but I love it. Every year I take part in a Tree Festival at my family church. There are 60 real Christmas trees which people sponsor to decorate. I did a friendship tree last year and had stitched ornaments from all over the world. This year I'm doing Miss-tree and all the stitched ornaments are to do with girlie things.

I thought this SAL would be a great way of stitching ornaments for next year's tree - I just need to come up with a catchy name. Because I'm stitching them over one I'd like a name to do with one. So far I have thought of solo-tree or mono-tree (you need to say it out loud to get the play on words) Anyone got any other ideas???

So my first ornament if Let it Snow by Country Cottage Needleworks. I used DMC E3747 for the snow flakes (and sorry the picture is sideways I have no idea why Blogger does that to me)

Next one is going to be 'Peace' by the same designer.

first ornie

I have just paid for the first ornie with DSL so hoping the postie has turbo power on his wings and brings the chart all the way to the UK very very fast. I off to France on wednesday so hoping the chart is waiting for me on my return on Sunday.

Happy stitching to anyone who starts the chart whilst I am away.

Love kath
x

So excited to get started on these!

I signed up for an automatic for the charts and fabric... can't wait to start on these. Thanks for setting this up Vonna! It will be fun to see everyone's progress and finishes.

My First Ornament

Hi everyone, I am so happy to be a part of this wonderful blog, and awed by the amazing ornaments! Thank you so much for starting this blog for us to share.

This is my first post and my first ornament, a Little House Needleworks treat from the JCS 2009 Special Ornament Issue (Pg 30), titled "Winter Sampler."

I am using a "scrap" of Platinum Jubilee , as well as the charted WDW floss: dandelion stem, joshua tree, roasted chestnut, toasted marshmallow, and wild berries, all from my stash.

I am going to finish it in a flat ornament style, as recommended, and I will share it with you when it is ready to hang.

My first ornament!!

Hallo everybody! Here it is my very first christmas ornament! Isn't it cute!
I like to stitch the LHN pattern very much!!
Hugs Elisabetta ^_^

Here's my first

Here's my "Whet Your Appetite ornament. I stitched it in October for an exchange, then decided it was to large for an ornament. Well, little did I know it would be an ornament anyway! Looking forward to the first ornament in this SAL. **Note to self...make sure dots for using Crop-a-Dile are even!! Hehe.

My Snow Bunnies Finish

I chose to stitch Snow Bunnies by Little House Needleworks. This design is from the 2007 Ornament issue of Just Cross Stitch. I used tan and white stripe ticking for the backing fabric. I attached the white leaf ribbon trim with seed beads. The hanger is made by threading the same beads on craft wire, and there is a little vintage glass ball on either end. My appetite has been "whet" Vonna, and I am ready for the first ornament!

Let it Snow

I've finally finished my ornament, which is Let it Snow by CCN from JCS 2008. I finished the stitching last weekend but it's taken until today to pluck up the courage to try and finish it into an ornament.

This is the first ornament I've made so it's not perfect, and it may be slightly wonky LOL, but overall I'm pleased with the result. I'm hoping to get a few more practice ornaments done before we start on the real thing!

You can see the snowflake backing fabric I used in the background of this picture.

Woodland Snowfall

I finally got around to stitching my ornament for "whet your appetite" which I had intended to do over the weekend, but didn't get to until yesterday. I loved stitching this. I'll be making a run to Michael's this weekend, to get some finishing supplies. This one will be finished in pillow ornie and tied with a big rafia bow.

Is anyone else excited about getting thier first ornie of the month?? I can't wait!

Whet Your Appetite!

Here's a conclusive list (I think) of Little House and Country Cottage ornaments that have been released throughout the years in the Just Cross Stitch Ornament Preview Issue and Ornament Issue. How about picking one out and getting it stitched by Dec. 1st?

Have you seen that Diane has posted the list of "necessaries" for ornament #1 and #2 on the website? Go to HERE and click on "Monthly Ornaments" in the sidebar to see the lists.

I believe most people should have their patterns by early December on pattern #1 of the new monthly ornament series, so in the meantime we'll get our engines revving by stitching one of these ornaments listed OR part of a larger LHN/CCN design just made into an ornament. Sound good? Wanna participate? Well get to stitching and post your finish here by Dec. 1st!

2009: Winter Sampler (LHN) pg. 30

Stitch-a-long for a year with me :)

Have you heard the news? Diane Williams of Little House Needleworks is releasing a 12 month series from her "All Dolled Up!" line that will be 12 holiday themed/inspired ornaments! Here is the first in the series, entitled "Fa La La": copyright Little House Needleworks "Fa La La" Ornament

I recently pulled out my own stitched christmas ornaments and I don't know about you, but I certainly would like to have more stitched ornaments on my tree and I'm thinking stitching these little cuties as they are released each month would be a great way to have at least 12 NEW ornaments to hang on my tree next year. Who knows....I may get really inspired and stitch all the Little House ornaments from the Just Cross Stitch Previews and Ornament Issues.

Would you like to join me?

If so, please e-mail me (Vonna) at pfeiffers6@sbcglobal.net with your name and e-mail address that you'd like your invitation to join this blog sent to and your blog URL if you have one. I'll get you all set up to be a member of the blog.

All you will have to do is get the monthly patterns (I know there are shops that are offering auto shipments) stich the design and post a picture of it to our blog! If it is finished into final form that would even be better!

By November 2010 you'll have at least 12 ornaments to hang on your tree or give away as gifts! WOW!

There may even be extra little stitching goals - like stitching a Country Cottage Needleworks ornament from the Just Cross Stitch magazines or Little House Needleworks ornament from the Just Cross Stitch Magazines along the way for extra fun!

Join me today so that once these sweet designs start rolling in, we can get our needles going without delay and start creating beautiful goodies for our trees!
